CNTA Organizes New Year Get-Together for Representatives of Foreign Travel Agencies
On January 9, CNTA staged the new year get-together for representatives of foreign travel agencies in Beijing. The event attracted nearly a hundred of them, including Danish and Nepalese ambassadors to China, Australian envoy, tourism counselors from over 30 other countries, representatives of foreign tourism authorities, representatives of tourism authorities in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce of China.
CNTA vice chairman Du Jiang addressed the event by saying, "In 2016, the Chinese government rolled out a series of policies in favor of tourism development, propelling the sustained, rapid growth of Chinese tourism industry. On May 19, Beijing convened the fruitful First World Conference on Tourism for Development in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organization. In 2017, we will co-host the China-Australia Tourism Year, China-Denmark Tourism Year, China-Kazakhstan Tourism Year, China-ASEAN Tourism Cooperation Year, etc., with relevant governments. We are confident that Chinese tourism industry will grow more robustly and deepen international cooperation."
Danish Ambassador to China Carsten Damsgaard praised the tremendous progress made by Chinese tourism industry in recent years and looked forward to expanding the two-way tourism exchange with China through the tourism year campaign.
Before the get-together kicked off, Du Jiang, accompanied by departmental heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce of China, held a meeting with diplomatic envoys and representatives from Denmark, Nepal, Australia, Kazakhstan, Switzerland and the Philippines to exchange views on how to deepen tourism cooperation and exchange.
