 Sichuan, called Bashu in ancient China, is located in the southwestern hinterland of China stretching across the eastern edge of Qinghai-Tibet plateau and Sichuan Basin. With a large number of hills, crisscrossed rivers, high peaks and deep gorges, Sichuan boasts abundant products and a great number of outstanding people; hence Sichuan has been known as the "Land of Abundance" since ancient times.

 Sichuan has magnificent, queer, perilous and elehant natural scenis spots. Since ancient times, Sichuan has enjoyed the reputation of "embracing the most fascinating landscapes on earth", such as Mount Emei, known as the most elegant mountain; Qingcheng Mountain, the most secluded mountain; Jianmen Pass, the most magnificent pass; and Jiuzhaigou Valley, the most appealing scenic marvel. From a vast expanse of bamboo sea in South Sichuan to the masterious and quiet Jiuzhaigou Vally in North Sichuan, and from the Nuoshui River in East Sichuan to Paoma Mountain in West Sichuan, natural scenic spots can be found everywhere in the province; hence Sichuan is acclaimed as "Scenic Province". In addition, over 85 percent of wild giant pandas in the world in habit in the high mountains in Northwest Sichuan become the "homeland of giant pandas". 

 Sichuan boast profound cultural connotations. The splendid civilization of the past several thousand years hae been vividly inserted in the scenic spots and historical sites of Sichuan. The dazzling historical sites are spread all over cliff face; the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, an ancient water conservancy projent; the hometown of Su Dongpo, a famous writer of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127); and the former residence of Du Fu, a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), in addition to pavilions and towers tucked away in lushly growing cypress trees. The Sun and Magic Birds excavated in Jinsha County, Sichuan Province has been designated as the symbol of the Chinese cultural heritages.

 Sichuan features varied and colorful ethnic minority customs and lifestyles. As one of the provinces in China with the most ethnic minority groups, Sichuan has been known as the "Ethnic Corridor". According to the historical records, several dozne ethnic groups have labored, lived, multiplied and blended with each other on this land since ancient times. Sichuan is the second largest region in China where the Tibetan people live in a compact community; the largest place inhabited by the Yi people; and the only province lived by the Qiang peolpe. The mysterious, ancient, unadorned and colorful customs and lifestyle of various ethnic minority groups, and the picturesque natural alndscapes make Sichuan become the "Land of Abundance" with unique glamour.

Huanglong Scenic Spot

Huanglong Scenic Spot

Situated 56 Kilometers east of Songpan Country in northwestern Sichuan, Huanglong neighbors Jiuzhaigou, and is 340 kilometers south of Chengdu. It is known for tis limestone-formation landscapes. The colorful travertine (limestone-deposit) pools make the place a Fairyland under Heaven and a World Wonder, and it was included on the World Natural Heritage List in 1992. 


Transport : No buses run directly from Chengdu to Huanglong directly. Usually tourists may get on a public bus at the Chungdu Chadianzi Bus Terminal to the Chuanzhu Temple or to the entrance of Jiuzhaigou Valley in Songpan County, and then change a bus to Huanglong.

 A world natural heritage and a national AAAAA scenic zone, Jiuzhaigou Vally is located in Jiuzhaigou Country of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, with an elevation of 2,000 to 4,300 m. The scenic zone is characterized by alpine lakes and waterfalls, integrating lakes, waterfall, shals,brooks, snow-crapped peaks, forests and Tibetan customes, Thanks to its unique primitive natural beauty, changeable scenery in the four seasons, and abundant animal and plant resources, Jiuzhaigou is known as the "paradise on earth" and "world of fairy tales".

 The primitive and picturesque scenic spots of Jiuzhaigou are mainly distributed along Shuchin Gully from the entrance to Norinam and two branch gullies (Chawa and Rize gullies). The "Y"-shaped section cobers an area of 720 sq km. The scenic zone contains 118 alpine lakes, 17 waterfall groups, many travertine shoals and various kinds of precious and rare animals and plants. The famous tourist attractions in Jiuzhaigou include the Sword Hanging Waterfall, Fragrant Grass Lake, Swan Lake, Sword Bamboo Lake, Panda Lake, High Waterfall, Five Flower Lake, Pearl Shoal Waterfall, Mirror Lake, Norinam Waterfall, Rhinoceros Lake, Shuzheng Waterfall and Shuzhengqun Lake, Jiuzhaigou Valley is open to tourists all the year round, and autumn is the best season for tourists to visit Jiuzhaigou. 


Transport : Tourists may take a bus at the Chengdu Xinnanmen Passenger Transportation Center to the entrance of Jiuzhaigou Valley; or take a bus at the Chadianzi Bus Terminal to the country town of JIuzhai, and then change a bus to Jiuzhaigou Valley.

Temple of Marquis Wu

  Situated in the sourthern suburbs of Chengdu, the Temple of Marquis Wu was built in memory of Zhuge Liang(181-234), prime minister of the State of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period (220-280). It is the most famous temple to commemorate Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei and other heroes of the State of Shu in China, the only temple for the worship of both the king and his high-ranking official, and the most influential museum of the historical relics of the Three Kingdoms in the country. It embodies the high combonation of Confucianist culture with military ideology, and is acclaimed as a scared land of the Three Kingdom by the people at home and abroad. In 1961 it was included in the first group of the key historical monuments under state protection by the State Council.

 The Temple of Marquis Wu is tucked away in the lushly growing cypress trees, and faces south. Along the central axial line, there are a number of architectural structures, such as the front gate, the second gate, Hall of Liu Bei, Passage Hall and Hall of Zhuge Liang; and the graveyard of Liu Bei is on the western side. In the temple, tourists can find 47 clay sculptures of the historical figures of the Shu Han, more than 50 steles, over 60 plaques, and over 10 ancient cooking vessels, stoves, bells and drums.

 The newly established "Three Kingdoms Culture" Exhibition Area is composed of two parts; the exhibition hall and the external environment. The external environment consists of the Sanfen Bridge, mythological animals, auspicious sculpted animals, spirit beasts, broken pillars of the Han Palace. "Fighting for the State", "Immortal at the River" (a stone carving on the broken wall), and the carved stone preface. The exhibition hall falls into five parts, i.e., the stormy Situatuion of War. Farming and Sericulture, and Lingering Customs and Lifestyle of the Past.
